"Our design firm had Concept Builders, Inc. do an in-depth renovation of our commercial offices. While it was a small-ish project (roughly 1,000 square feet), it involved a multitude of services:
- Removal and construction of several non-load bearing walls
- Replacement of in-ceiling tile grid
- Replacement of ceiling sprinkler system with "hidden" sprinkler heads
- Replacement and installation of new area lights and spotlights
- Fine polishing of concrete floor
- Rewiring of electrical in area
- Repainting of walls

"Dan and Joe Schaafsma of Concept Builders were general contractors who remodeled my outdated 50-year-old kitchen. I met with Dan who looked at my basic Home Depot remodel design and sent me to a cabinet supplier for a different (and lower!) quote for cabinets. Dan asked me questions about my preferences for plumbing, appliances, lighting, counter tops, and back splash. Dan provided lists of vendors and suppliers with whom he has established relationships. I made appointments and met with sales representatives and designers for cabinets, counter tops, tile, hardware, plumbing, lighting, and appliances. Dan sent me an electronic draft of a construction agreement and later met with me for finalizing the bid and the agreement. I decided to lower costs by being responsible for the demolition and painting myself.
Joe coordinated the scheduling of subcontractors. He kept me informed of dates and times that materials, cabinets, counter tops, appliances, and workers and craftsmen would arrive. Joe let me know when there were inevitable changes in the schedules. He was responsive when I had questions or concerns. When I was unhappy about the design of the lower corner cabinets, Joe researched, problem-solved, and created a perfect solution with which I was very pleased.
Joe and all of the craftsmen, technicians, and workers were respectful, punctual, and professional in interactions with me and my very modest home. They arrived at the promised dates and times. They used drop cloths to protect my floors and plastic sheeting taped into place as barriers to reduce the dust from dry wall work. They cleaned up at the end of each work day.
I am thrilled with the finished project! The work came in under budget and fulfilled my vision of a new kitchen. It is much more open and bright. I appreciate the effect of the under counter lighting. I love the coordinated look of the counter top and back splash of ceramic tile, and accent of glass tile and slate. I now have more than double the counter space for cooking prep and for entertaining. I highly recommend hiring Concept Builders for remodel projects."
+ AEW: Custom Home Design & Build
Concept Builders was recommended to us by a neighbor that was familiar with their work. We contacted Dan Schaafsma with the idea of building a Craftsman style home with over eight thousand square feet including a two lane bowling alley. We also wanted a house with striking appeal from the street as well as the lake. Dan designed us a home with the floor plan that met our needs, and exceeded our expectations.
The project started with demolishing two existing homes on Tapps Island. We had concerns of environmental issues due to being on the lake, and Association regulations. Dan worked closely with both the County and the Association. The President of our Association said he had never seen such detailed plans addressing the concerns of the Tapps Island community.
When the project started we received a schedule and a time frame as to when items such as lighting fixture, plumbing fixtures, colors, and flooring needed to be decided. He also gave us a detailed list of suggested suppliers to work with. With this schedule and the list of suppliers it made it easy for us to pick items without any pressure. Dan helped us with design choices so everything worked with the Craftsman style we wanted to end up with.
Friends that had houses built for them said this will test our marriage. Concept Builders had put together such a detailed plan that it was easy to stay on task.
Concept Builders had never put a bowling alley in a house before. Yet you would have thought after seeing the final product that they had done this many times. The detail to the finishes throughout the house is phenomenal.
The house has been finished for a while now. And whenever I have called with a question, I have never had to wait for a response. They have contacted me on numerous occasions just to see how things are going. Every phone call to them I feel like I am talking to a family member. We are planning to build a house at Snoqualmie Pass in the future. There is no question they will be the one for this project.
